A Home for Mr. Emerson, (Scholastic Press, February 2014) written by Barbara Kerley and illustrated by Edwin Fotheringham, was placed on the 2015 International Literacy Association Teacher's Choices reading list. Since 1989, the Teachers' Choices project has developed an annual annotated reading list of new books that encourage young people to read and those that contribute to learning across the curriculum. Second Avenue Caper, written by Joyce Brabner and illustrated by Mark Zingarelli, won the Best LGBT Graphic Novel of 2014 at the 27th Annual Lambda Literary Awards (the "Lammys"). Winners were announced an a gala ceremony hosted by comedienne Kate Clinton at The Great Hall at Cooper Union on June 1, 2015.
